- Kitchen of Hope
- Connie Teare gets in the 'spirit' for the October Kitchen of Hope luncheon! The Kitchen of Hope is a Wood County community (non-denominational) lunch held on the last Friday of each month. The "Hope" is that we can offer folks who are on fixed incomes and seniors who are financially strapped at the end of the month, a good nutritious lunch, and friendly socialization. We also offer toiletries to those who wish to take them. Many times our clients tell us about specific needs they may have such as beds, groceries, gas, etc. and we are able to help them or point them into the right direction. Our purpose is to simply help those in need of food or socialization. There is no charge for the lunch. We are supported strictly by contributions. We began in July of 2006 with about 8 people attending. We currently serve about 70 clients each month. This shows the need within our community and surrounding Wood County. If you have an opportunity to come in contact with those described above you may want to contact us to find our how you can refer people to us or find a way to support us. We promise only a really good nutritional lunch and an opportunity to meets others. Everyone is welcome. No one is turned away.If you would like to contact us you may e mail me at connieconni@aol.com or call me @ 419-874-5259.We are looking for opportunities to expand and will welcome your help or suggestions.

- Rachel Circle meets the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the church library. This circle is using the Lutheran Women Today publication for its study of the book of John.
- Naomi Circle meets the third Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the church library. This group is studying Matthew, chapters 7-9, through the Serendipity publication, "Challenge, Attitude, and Adjustment."

- Women's Evening Study Group meets the second and fourth Monday each month from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Meetings are held in members' homes or at the church. Those interested in this group should contact the church office to be certain of the meeting place.(419-874-4346) The structure of this group is such that one can attend as one's schedule allows. Several topics are discussed throughout the year, using a variety of Christian resources for study.
On the first Monday in May and October, all women of Zoar have the invitation to come together for a meal, fellowship, and a special program.
The ZWELCA conducts several annual outreach projects. The mission to serve the world in need is fostered through our support of Lutheran World Relief programs.
Zoar's Piece Corps, which makes simple quilts, meets the first Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center. About 120 quilts are shipped each year to LWR.
The Zoar congregation is kept aware throughout the year of the need for lightweight men's and children's clothing, sweaters for men, women, and children, and items for the sewing, school, layette, and health kits that are constructed. These donations are also shipped to Lutheran World Relief in October.
The ZWELCA encourages the congregation to contribute to two special offerings each year. The November Thankoffering is sent to the national office of the Women of the ELCA. It is used for the following:
- Health and nutrition ministries in the U.S. and developing countries
- New congregations in the U.S. and around the world
- Radio programs that share the Gospel and provide health and nutrition education
- Theological education for pastors
The Mother's Day offering is given to agencies that have an emphasis on meeting the needs of women and children. Financial support has also been given to members of Zoar who are seminary students.
The monthly offerings from the study groups are also used for outreach.
- Zoar Mothers of Preschoolers
Come join us in our study of the living Word, and experience the joy of our being sisters in Christ, growing in faith and in serving our Great God Creator, Savior, ever-present Holy Spirit!
Men's Ministries
- Any and all men are invited to become a part of the Men United in Christ. It is a simple format of getting together the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (except for Christmas Day), starting at 8:00 p.m. We will open with a prayer, have a scripture reading or two, discuss how our faith is being applied to our lives, and end with a closing prayer. Meetings are to last approximately 1 hour to 1 ½ max. No sign up is necessary, just show up. In the spring we are planning to have a breakfast meeting with a guest speaker to wrap up and then take the summer off.
