Join one of our Bible study groups.
All are welcome to come and explore some of the lesser known female characters in the Old Testament. These characters challenge traditional thought about the role that women had in ancient Judea, showing us courage, strength, and authority.
Shining light on such important characters through open, candid discussion we will explore a variety of topics through the lenses of these women, both in their context of ancient Judea and in today’s world. This 4 week Bible Study series will take place on each Saturday starting in February at 4:30 p.m. at Zoar. All participants will be invited to stay after discussion to attend 6:00 p.m. worship. Intern Kevin is very excited to lead this group and will see you all for the first session on February 4th.
Women’s Bible studies are offered through the Circles, small groups and several times a year in a large group format.
Periodically, shorter-term adult Bible and Christian education studies are offered on weekdays and weekends. Below is a list of current offerings:
Men’s Disciples of Christ Bible Study: meets in the Conference Room, beginning Tuesday, September 13 and ending on November 15. The group will pick a book of interest to read and discuss. Please contact Chris Nickel (419-874-8116) or Paul Smithers (419-265-0203) for more information.
Solomon’s Porch: In Jerusalem, Solomon’s Porch was adjacent to the Temple. It was a place where many rabbis, including Jesus, taught their followers and held open discussions on issues of faith.
Zoar’s version of Solomon’s Porch is a community-based open discussion for Zoar Lutheran members and friends. Facilitated by Diaconal Minister Carole Bohn, we meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Panera Bread on Rt. 20 in Perrysburg.
The topics each month are emailed a few days before to all participating members. If you would like to be on the Solomon’s Porch distribution list, contact Carole Bohn. We cannot promise answers to all the hard questions, but we can guarantee a lively discussion – and feel free to bring a friend! And if it’s your first time to sit on the Porch, we’ll buy your coffee — or tea or espresso.
